| The Statewide Caregivers Consortium of New York is a network of organizations committed to providing support services for caregivers and caregiving programs and to fostering cooperative efforts in developing volunteer recruitment, public awareness, media relations, fund raising campaigns and training.
The Consortium strives to create a strong network of caregiving agencies qualified and prepared to meet the growing need for home-based support for families working to keep their loved ones at home.
The purpose of the Consortium is (1) to form regional networks of organizations that are providing caregiver support and/or direct services, which may include respite, and (2) to foster cooperative efforts aimed at assisting these organizations in developing programs for increasing public awareness and conducting fund-raising campaigns.
The mission of the organization is to act as a strong and productive statewide advocate for caregiving agencies and the people they serve, working as well to ensure that there are meaningful local achievements within a region.
One primary goal for this year is to work to establish a statewide lifespan respite task force. This would be designed to ultimately bring more respite services to the State of New York once appropriations are made to fund the federal Lifespan Respite Care Act of 2006.
